On 19 August, SAL joined our colleagues from SMU for the first of 13 sessions in a course titled “The Future of the Singapore Legal Profession: Wellbeing and the Sustainability of the Profession.”
As the industry partner for this initiative, SAL is contributing to discussions on one of the profession’s most important challenges: how we can better support lawyer wellbeing and ensure the long-term sustainability of legal practice in Singapore.
A key focus of the project is examining how other jurisdictions have responded to lawyer wellbeing and sustainability challenges, what approaches appear to work, for whom and under what conditions, and what insights may be relevant to Singapore.
The SMU-X programme is one area of collaboration under the Legal Profession Observatory (LPO), a joint initiative between SAL and SMU that brings together research and industry perspectives to generate evidence-based insights that can inform the future development of Singapore’s legal sector.
We look forward to the conversations and discoveries that will emerge over the coming months.
