AIxLegal by SAL: Building Practical AI Fluency for the Legal Profession

The Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) has launched AIxLegal by SAL on 20 Aug 2026, a new training programme, supported by IMDA. The programme was designed to build AI fluency across Singapore’s legal profession and help practitioners navigate the growing use of generative AI in legal practice.

AI training designed for legal practice

AIxLegal by SAL was developed with this in mind. Rather than requiring practitioners to undertake extensive technical training, the 2.5-hour, in-person programme programme focuses on the knowledge and skills they need to begin applying generative AI meaningfully in their d examples and AI tools to understand how the technology can be incorporated into their own practice.

The intention is not to turn lawyers into AI engineers. It is to give busy practitioners a practical foundation from which they can begin using AI with greater confidence, while understanding its limitations and the professional judgement that must continue to sit behind its use.
